To increase the quality of Real Damn Good Coffee I drink, while saving money, I purchased a Bodum 16-Ounce Travel Coffee Press. I like French press coffee, (I REALLY LIKE IT) and needed something portable. This cup fit the bill. The double-wall design allows coffee to stay warm for a good period of time. The travel press makes a great cup, but it is for the experienced. This cup takes some patience, trial and errors, to learn. It’s slightly different than the normal French press.

As is standard, for French presses , it’s Pretty Straight Forward in its use. Take the plunger/filter part out of the cup. Put the Desired amount of course ground coffee into the cup, pour the hot water in. You have to use a plastic spoon with this cup as not to scratch/break it. Let it sit for like 4-5 minutes, put the top on and press the coffee.

Well at that point that’s where gets different. Once more, you need a Course grind for this cup. If you grind the coffee too fine you will get dust, but that really does not matter. When you press the coffee, ground coffee bits will get through the filter edges, especially if rushed. The, easily cleaned, filter/plunger, has a plastic seal is not Perfect. This is my one problem with the cup. I’ve tested similar cups, though, where the seal seemed too tight and you basically had to up screw the top to get it out. I think it’s a catch 22 situation.

Overall the Bodum 16-Ounce Travel Coffee Press makes a Good portable cup of Coffee, just one that’s not meant to be rushed. This Cup requires a little patience, but pays off with a good cup of coffee that’s easily cleaned afterword. It is a worthy vessel for Real Damn good coffee. It’s with me at work every day now and I have carried it with me to diners and other places I would normally buy coffee. Oh yeah, it makes a good cold press coffee too .
